Technical Notes: Estimated Cancer Cases and Death in 2009
The American Cancer Society (ACS) projects the numbers of new cancer cases and cancer deaths in the US in 2009 (American Cancer Society, 2009). The ACS projects incidence in 2009 based on incidence rates for 1995-2005 from 41 states, representing about 85% of the US population. These high quality incidence data were submitted to the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) by 41 states belonging to the SEER Program and/or the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR).
