Characteristics of the SEER Population Compared with the Total United States Population

This is a bar chart showing percentages of the SEER population and the US population for five characteristics. The graph shows:

  1. Below Poverty Level: 12.9% of the SEER population, 12.4% of the US population;
  2. Less than a High School Diploma (persons aged 25 years or more): 20.4% of the SEER population, 19.6% of the US population;
  3. Urban Areas: 88.2% of the SEER population, 79% of the US population;
  4. Foreign Born: 17.3% of the SEER population, 11.1% of the US population.

The data source for these statistics is the 1990 US Census. SEER areas included in this figure are the States of Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Utah; multi-country areas of Atlanta & rural Georgia, Detroit, San Francisco-Oakland, Seattle-Puget Sound, San Jose-Monterey, Los Angeles county, remaining counties of California; and American Indians/Alaska Natives in Arizona and Alaska.
