Question
Reportability/Histology--Heme & Lymphoid Neoplasms: What histology would be used for a sclerosing extramedullary myeloid tumor?

Discussion

Answer
This case is not reportable.

Sclerosing extramedullary myeloid tumor is frequently a manifestation of MPN (primary myelofibrosis or polycythemia vera), and rarely in chronic myeloid leukemia. There are times that the extramedullary myeloid tumor precedes the diagnosis of a malignancy.

If the patient has primary myelofibrosis, polycythemia vera, or chronic myeloid leukemia, report that neoplasm.
