To add a new grouping to a user-defined variable, follow these steps:
Open the variable in the Edit Variable dialog.
There are two formats used to display the valid values for a variable, a list format and a range format. The values of a few variables are shown using a combination of both a list and a range. Choose the values you want to include in the grouping by one of the following methods:
Highlight the values in the Values box. To highlight multiple values, click and drag over them, or hold the Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking on them.
For variables with a range of values, type the values in the Unlabeled Values field. Remember to use a hyphen for ranges and a comma to separate discrete values or ranges (e.g., "2,5-7,9" indicates the values '2', '5', '6', '7', and '9'). The range of values which exist in the database is indicated in this same notation above the field.
To select values for a variable that has both a list and range of values, you may specify values in the range field, or select values from the list, or both. The grouping will be defined with the combination of values specified in the text box and highlighted in the list box.
Click Add.
A tentative name for the new grouping will be displayed in the Groupings box. This is the label that will appear in your results matrix. Type a different name if desired, and press Enter.
If you want to add a grouping with all values or all unused values, the Add All and Add Rest buttons provide shortcuts for these functions.
It is always possible to edit, reorder, or delete groupings on the Edit Variable dialog.
