Skin biopsy: The removal of cells or tissues so they can be viewed under a microscope to check for signs of cancer. The doctor may remove a growth from the skin, which will be examined by a pathologist. Skin biopsies are used to diagnosis diseases such as mycosis fungoides, which may require more than one skin biopsy.
