Data: A fact, statement, or specific piece of information. In statistical terms, there are four types of data. Qualitative (classifying into related groups), which is subcategorized as Nominal-naming, such as race or sex Ordinal-ranked or placed into an order, such as stage of disease Quantitative (actual values or measures), which is subcategorized as Interval-measures or accounts based on an arbitrary starting point, such as body temperature Ratio-measures or amounts based on a scale on which zero means there is none, such as tumor size or age
