Remarks
A dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor. Piritrexim is an alternative to methotrexate, and may possess activity in some patients with methotrexate resistance. Promising results have been reported in head and neck cancer, metastatic melanoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, and bladder cancer; also Rx for PCP. However, additional (larger) studies are needed to define the role of piritrexim.
