The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the National Cancer Institute annually collects cancer incidence and survival data from population-based cancer registries across the United States. These data are distributed in the SEER Limited-Use databases which are available when using SEER*Stat.
The SEER Registries routinely collect data on patient demographics, primary tumor site, morphology, stage at diagnosis, first course of treatment, and follow-up for vital status. The SEER Program is a comprehensive source of population-based information in the United States that includes stage of cancer at the time of diagnosis and survival within each stage.
Users must sign a SEER Limited-Use Data Agreement before accessing the data. SEER*Stat accesses the data from the SEER*Stat CD in local mode, or from the SEER*Stat servers in client-server mode. Corrections or improvements made to the data since the production of the CD are available only in client-server mode.
