Differences from Clinical Trial Results

Survival calculated using data from population-based cancer registries differs in several ways from survival calculated using data from clinical trials. People enrolled in clinical trials tend to be younger than other people with cancer. Also, usually people in clinical trials do not have other serious health conditions. This calculator’s results are from a large diverse population-based database that includes a wider range of people than clinical trial participants, so the estimates presented are more representative of people with cancer in the United States.
