1. In SEER*Stat, click File > New > Rate Session.
2. On the Data tab, select an Incidence or Mortality database.
3. On the Statistic tab, check the box next to Show Standard Errors and Confidence Intervals. This will cause Use Tiwari et al., 2006 modification for Cls to be checked as well.
4. Make selections on the Selection tab if desired. This is not required for importing data into HD*Calc, but may be necessary to narrow down the data you are working with.
5. On the Table tab, select the variables to be used in the export. Since there can be no overlapping, totals or subtotals, it is necessary to modify the variables first.
6. On the Output tab, include a title to be displayed when the data are imported into HD*Calc.
7. Click Session > Execute. A matrix with the results will appear.
8. Click Matrix > Export > Text File to export the file. The Export dialog will open.
9. Check Remove Flags (Footnote), Prefix and Suffix Characters and enter the paths and names for the .txt and .dic files. Click OK to create the .txt and .dic files.
