 MP-SIR Rates Tab

On the Rates tab in an MP-SIR session, you must choose a population-based referent rate file to use in your analysis.

The box at the top of the window lists the available rate files. Highlight the file you want to use. The details of the highlighted rates file will appear in the Rate File Details box. It contains information such as the database, on which it is based, and the Event Variables it contains.

  • Click on the View Session button to open the session for the highlighted rate file.
  • Click on the View Rates button to open the matrix for the highlighted rate file.
  • Click on the Other Rates button to open the Referent Rates dialog showing all of the available rates whether or not they are valid for the current database. The Status column says Valid for rates that are valid for the current database and lists the reasons for rates that are invalid.

If you want to import a rate file that was created outside of SEER*Stat, click Import Rates button. The Import Referent Rates dialog will open

The box at the bottom of the window indicates how SEER*Stat will handle discrepancies between variables in your selected database and the corresponding variables in the rate file. The Cohort Variable and Rate Variable columns contain the names of the corresponding variables in each file. The Cohort Values Not In Rates column indicates the values for this variable that are present in the database but not in the rate file. (A pair of variables may have more than one unmatched value; if so, they will be listed on separate lines.) SEER*Stat will treat those values as if they were the value listed in the Process As column.

You may be able to change how the unmatched values are treated by highlighting the line containing the value you want to change. Then, if the drop-down list below the Cohort Variables section is enabled (shown below), use it to select the value you want to put in the Process As column.

Creating Your Own Referent Rate Files

You can use a SEER*Stat Rate session to create your own referent rate files for use in MP-SIR sessions.

The Delete and Rename buttons on the Rates tab can be used to delete or rename user-created rate files, but the rate files distributed with SEER*Stat cannot be changed.
