Each format line has an input value, from the input file field, followed by an equal sign, then the field label that it represents.
For example if this were a Sex variable and your input data contained a "1" representing males and a "2" representing females, the lines would be:
1 = Male
2 = Female
When all the format lines have been edited press the OK button to return to the Variable Specification dialog with the changes.
