Definition
The MEDLARS system (National Library of Medicine) is a basic guide to searching the various biomedical data bases. It contains more than 20 separate data bases, such as, MEDLINE to search for articles in recent journals, CANCERLIt to search for cancer literature, and CHEMLINE to search for chemical compounds (on-line data base).
