Abstractor Notes

Myeloid neoplasms associated with germline predisposition is part of the Secondary myeloid lineage table in the WHO 5th edition of Hematolymphoid Tumors. (See Appendix B in the Hematopoietic Manual, Table B7)

This heterogeneous group of diseases is caused by deleterious germline pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants in genes that affect critical biological pathways leading to varying abnormalities of benign, malignant, hematopoietic, or/and non-hematopoietic disorders.

Definition

Myeloid neoplasms associated with germline predisposition include acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDSs), myeloproliferative neoplasms, and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms that arise in individuals with genetic conditions associated with increased risk of myeloid malignancies.
