An adrenal inhibitor (adrenocortical suppressant), which is used primarily in the treatment of Cushing's syndrome. Used experimentally to inhibit aldosterone synthesis and raise potassium levels in patients with adrenal hyperfunction and in hypertensive patients undergoing diuretic therapy
