Remarks
This drug is a diuretic. It also blocks production of aldosterone which is produced in excess by various types of malignant and benign tumors. It is used in the treatment of edema due to congestive heart failure or hepatic or renal disease, in the treatment of hypokalemia, in the management of primary hyperaldosteronism, and, usually in combination with other drugs, in the treatment of hypertension.
