Remarks
A non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. Clinical data are insufficient to determine the role of atevirdine in HIV infection or AIDS. Studies evaluating its efficacy in two- and three-drug combinations (eg, with zidovudine, didanosine, zalcitabine) are needed; direct comparisons of atevirdine monotherapy with zidovudine, zidovudine/atevirdine, delavirdine, and nevirapine are also needed.
