Remarks
A synthetic progestogen (progestin). FDA approved palliative uses in advanced endometrial carcinoma and advanced renal cell carcinoma; administered intramuscularly. This drug lessens the tumor burden allowing for surgical treatment. If given prior to surgical treatment, code as neo-adjuvant therapy. Also used orally in the treatment of secondary amenorrhea and functional uterine bleeding and as a contraceptive.
