SEER*Prep Utilities

The input data files used with SEER*Prep must follow the specific requirements provided in Input File Formats. You may find the following utility programs useful when preparing your input files.

Fix Length

The text files used as input to SEER*Prep must be fixed length. The required record length for each of the supported file formats is given in Input File Format. Your data management software may have an option to output fixed length records. If not, you may use the Windows Fixlen program.

Programs to create a NAACCR CSV or fixed length version of text files:

Population Data

The following SAS programs can be used to subset the county-level and census-tract level population data prior to using SEER*Prep:
