In this example we are calculating age-adjusted incidence rates (age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. Standard Population (Census P25-1130)) for malignant breast cancer. These rates are calculated for black females diagnosed from 2018-2022 in the SEER 21 registries.

To calculate the rates, begin with counts: the number of tumors for each of the 19 and 20 age groups for the same geographic, race, sex, cancer site combination. This is the number of malignant incident breast cancer cases for black females in the SEER 21 registries from 2018-2022. These values were calculated using the SEER 21 registry limited-field database from the November 2024 submission.
