Attention: These changes affect ALL SEER*Stat users, so please read the following announcement carefully.

October 15, 2025:

  • SEER*Stat Version 9.0.42 was released and does require a client update. SEER*Stat Version 9.0.41 will continue to run on port 2039 until October 29th. This new version includes several enhancements for speed and memory usage, but also includes calculation error fixes below. All servers, including the server running on port 2039 have already been updated to include the calculation fixes. For the full list of changes see the readme.txt (TXT, 26 KB).
  • Calculation errors were corrected in the z-test calculation of the survival session. This included:
    • Fixed a z-test error where the wrong life pages were being compared during calculations. This problem has been present in client-server mode since July 1st, 2024. This problem did not impact databases available in local mode. This is only a problem if you had multiple by-variables on the Table tab in your survival analysis.
    • The footnote indicating the z-test comparison group in age-standardized analyses was corrected to show the correct comparison group.
    • Fixed an error in the z-test calculations when processing age-standardized life pages. The z-test was producing z-values for life pages that didn’t have enough survival intervals or had expected interval survival values that could not be calculated. This would occur when one or more of the contributing age groups for the age-standardization couldn’t be calculated to the specified survival duration.
  • There was also a correction to the State-County variable in some databases for rate sessions. The correction applied to the November 2022, November 2023, and November 2024 Submission SEER 8 Research Plus databases. It did not impact Research databases or SEER 12, SEER 17, or SEER 21 Research Plus databases. The Hawaii state total grouping did not include 1975-1999 populations for the state total. If using the registry variable, using county level rates, or working with 2000+ data there were no issues. But any Hawaii total rate using this field that included pre-2000 data would be missing the population. This was a database update and not related to the version of SEER*Stat.
  • Feel free to contact us at seerstat@imsweb.com if you have any questions.

July 29, 2025:

  • SEER*Stat Version 9.0.41 was released.
  • This release requires a manual download/installation of a new client application.
  • The communications between the client and server are being improved, so the auto-update feature of the application will not be available for this update.
  • No changes will be necessary to your firewall or server locations if you have updated to Version 9.0.40.x. If your latest version is 8.4.5, see information on June 26, 2025 update for required firewall changes.

Future SEER*Stat Updates

  • The next expected significant feature/security enhancement will be incorporating Single Sign On (SSO) with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) into SEER*Stat. It will support Login.gov, NIH login, and IMS login service. We do not have a release date yet, but this will likely occur in Fall 2025. It will require an update of the client application.
  • In addition, there will be updates/patches for minor enhancements/bug fixes. Depending on the features/fixes, these may or may not require an update. In some cases, you would not be required to update, but you would have the option to download/install the new version.
  • This page will continue to be updated with information on new releases.

June 26, 2025:

  1. The original version of SEER*Stat (version 8.4.5) was retired. It was replaced with the new SEER*Stat application.
  2. The IP Address of the SEER*Stat server changed. The new IP address for "seerstat.imsweb.com" is 72.249.87.142. Due to this change, some users may need to work with their IT departments to configure their firewall rules to allow access to the new IP address.
  3. Password changes:
    • The password requirements changed to improve security. Passwords must be at least 12 characters and include at least 2 special characters.
    • Anytime you receive access to new data (e.g., request a new SEER annual submission or obtain access to other datasets) you will be required to change your password.
    • The option to remember your password has been removed.
